Housecall Pro Alternatives for Small Crews (2026)

Housecall Pro earns its reputation. The apps are polished, it works in English and Spanish, and a garage door or pest control outfit can be booking jobs from its phone by lunch on day one. If that’s you and the invoice doesn’t sting, there’s no reason to move.

The owners who go looking for a Housecall Pro alternative usually hit one of two walls. The first is headcount: past eight people on MAX, every new hire adds $35 a month. The second is paperwork. A sewer camera run, a leak detection survey or a backflow test ends with a document the client files away, and a job card with a few photos and a note isn’t that document.

Below we compare seven alternatives to Housecall Pro on seat pricing, trials, on-site forms and AI. We make Clevra, so it’s listed first, and we flag every place Housecall Pro or another tool is ahead.

Every price below was checked on the vendor’s own pricing page on October 15, 2026.

Housecall Pro alternatives: the short version

  • Clevra: crews of 1 to 15 whose job ends with a report (sewer camera, leak detection, backflow, concrete scanning, utility locating). Free plan, one flat price per company.
  • Jobber: lawn care, cleaning and handyman businesses that want online self-booking, Tap to Pay and a big app marketplace.
  • Workiz: phone-driven shops that want AI call answering and a built-in phone system from one vendor.
  • Kickserv: budget-minded teams that want published prices, QuickBooks Online or Desktop, and a 30-day trial.
  • FieldPulse: HVAC, electrical and commercial equipment contractors that track assets and maintenance agreements.
  • Service Fusion: companies past 20 techs that want unlimited users at a fixed monthly price.
  • RazorSync: small teams that want listed prices, a customer portal and an API.

Why owners start looking past Housecall Pro

The switch usually happens when the business grows in a direction the plan wasn’t shaped for. These come up most.

1. Seat math after eight people. On annual billing, Basic is $59 a month for 1 user, Essentials is $149 for 5 and MAX is $299 for 8. After that, each user is $35 a month. A 12-person crew on MAX pays $299 plus 4 × $35, which is $439 a month. At 15 people it’s $544. Month to month, the three plans start at $79, $189 and $329.

2. You’re paying for a suite built around home service sales. Housecall Pro bundles a lot: consumer financing, review management, websites, expense cards, payroll and a sales pipeline. Great for selling water heaters to homeowners. Less useful when your client is a property manager who wants a camera report.

3. Inspection work needs structured fields, not just photos. A backflow tester records gauge readings at each check valve, the device serial and a pass or fail. If the form can’t enforce those fields, someone retypes them later.

4. No free plan to test with. The trial is 14 days with no card. Two weeks is short for judging a seasonal backflow route.

On AI, to be fair: Housecall Pro already ships CSR AI, which answers calls and books jobs. That’s a point in its favor.

Housecall Pro competitors at a glance

Here’s what each tool lists, in USD, on annual billing unless noted. Two of the seven publish no prices.

  • Housecall Pro (for reference): $59/mo for 1 user, $149 for 5, $299 for 8 plus $35 per extra user. No free plan. 14-day trial, no card. Best for broad home service.
  • Clevra: $0 for 1 user, $39/mo for up to 5, $79/mo for up to 15. Free plan. 14-day trial of Pro or Business, no card. Best for report-heavy trades with crews of 1 to 15.
  • Jobber: from $29/mo for 1 user (Core); $149 for 5 on Connect. Extra users $29/mo. No free plan. 14-day trial. Best for lawn care, cleaning and handyman work.
  • Workiz: request pricing on all plans. No free plan. 7-day trial, no card. Best for phone-first dispatch.
  • Kickserv: $60/mo for 5 users, $119 for 10, $199 for 20, billed monthly (20% off yearly). No free plan. 30-day trial. Best for small shops that want simple pricing.
  • FieldPulse: seat-based, priced on a sales call. No free plan. Trial not stated. Best for asset and agreement tracking.
  • Service Fusion: $208/mo with unlimited users. No free plan. Demo, no trial mentioned. Best for large teams.
  • RazorSync: $85/mo for up to 2 users, $195 for up to 7, $439 for up to 15. No free plan. 14-day trial. Best for small teams that want an API.

The 7 best Housecall Pro alternatives, compared

1. Clevra: for crews that hand over a report

Clevra is a single web app that carries a job from the first phone call to the paid invoice, plus a Technician app for the crew that’s in iOS beta on TestFlight. It’s sized for teams of 1 to 15 and built around trades where the client pays for findings: sewer camera inspection, leak detection, backflow testing, concrete scanning and utility locating. General plumbing and HVAC shops use it too.

What a report-first crew actually needs. Picture a camera tech pushing a line from a cleanout. The property manager wants the footage distance to the root intrusion, the pipe material, a photo at the defect and a recommendation, signed. The next morning the same tech does an annual backflow test on an RPZ assembly, and the water purveyor wants readings for check 1, check 2 and the relief valve, plus the tester’s certification number.

That’s what Clevra’s on-site checklists are for (Pro and up). Build a form once with text, number, checkbox, dropdown, date, yes/no, photo upload and signature fields, and mark the ones that can’t be skipped. Attach it to the visit. The crew fills it on site, Clevra produces a PDF, and the client can open it in their portal. Photo and signature questions are filled from the web app for now, not the Technician app.

Building a backflow test checklist in Clevra with required number fields for valve readings, a pass or fail dropdown and a signature field

Early access: inspection reports. Clevra’s inspection reports take what the crew captured on the job and draft a client-ready report from it, so the write-up doesn’t pile up on the office desk. It’s in Early access. Book a demo and bring a report you send today.

Early access: AI Receptionist. This one answers your business line, notes who’s calling and what they need, and drops the request into your inbox so the office can book it. It’s in Early access, so ask for a walkthrough if you want to try it. Housecall Pro’s CSR AI, which books jobs, is shipping now.

AI you can use today. On Pro and up, the AI Business Assistant answers questions in plain English from your live data, like “Which property managers owe us more than 30 days?” or “How many camera inspections did we bill in September?” Clevra’s MCP server connects the account to Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP assistant. It can look up jobs, find open slots, draft an estimate or book a visit, and it asks for your OK before each change.

Everything between the call and the payment. Online estimates that clients approve and sign, with automatic follow-ups on Pro. Scheduling with day, week and month views, a map and recurring visits for annual backflow routes. Invoices generated from the job, card payments through Stripe with no Clevra platform fee, plus cash, cheque and e-transfer recorded by hand. A client list with multiple properties per client. Job costing, timesheets, 23 reports and QuickBooks Online sync on Pro and up.

Pricing. Flat per company, not per seat:

  • Free: $0 for 1 user, no time limit
  • Pro: $49 a month, or $39 a month billed yearly, up to 5 users
  • Business: $99 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly, up to 15 users
  • Custom: unlimited users, pricing on request

So the 12-person crew paying $439 a month on Housecall Pro MAX would be on Business at $79 a month billed yearly. New accounts get a 14-day trial of Pro or Business with no card.

Where Housecall Pro is stronger. It has native iOS and Android apps in English and Spanish, offline mode, vehicle GPS tracking, online booking, review management, websites, consumer financing, payroll and CSR AI that books jobs today. Clevra has none of those yet. If your techs are on Android or you sell financed equipment to homeowners, Housecall Pro is the better fit right now.

For a line-by-line breakdown, see Clevra vs Housecall Pro.

2. Jobber

Jobber is the name most people compare first. On annual billing, Core is $29 a month for 1 user and Connect is $149 for 5; Grow for 5 is $229. Extra users cost $29 a month each. Month to month, Core is $49 and Connect for 5 is $199. The trial is 14 days with Grow features and no card.

It wins on customer-facing extras: online self-booking, Tap to Pay, ACH bank payments and a large app marketplace, with iOS and Android apps. See how Clevra compares with Jobber.

3. Workiz

Workiz builds around the phone. Genius AI Answering picks up calls, Genius Phone is a full phone system inside the app, and online booking, route planning, inventory and service plans fill out the rest. All three plans (Standard, Pro, Ultimate) say request pricing, and the trial is 7 days with no card.

If you came to Housecall Pro for its call handling, Workiz is the closest match on that front. Seven days is short, so plan your test week before you sign up. See Clevra and Workiz side by side.

4. Kickserv

Kickserv keeps things plain. Start is $60 a month for 5 users, Run is $119 for 10 and Scale is $199 for 20, billed monthly, with 20% off on annual. The 30-day trial is the longest in this list.

It connects to QuickBooks Online and Desktop, supports Tap to Pay and onsite card payments, and its iOS and Android apps include GPS and time tracking. Clients can pay online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. See Kickserv against Clevra.

5. FieldPulse

FieldPulse is seat-based and you’ll need a sales call to get a number. It offers custom forms, asset management, maintenance agreements, a booking portal, fleet tracking, the Engage phone system and two AI products: Operator AI, which answers calls as an AI dispatcher, and Maverick AI.

Asset history is the draw for contractors servicing a lot of equipment. See the FieldPulse comparison.

6. Service Fusion

Service Fusion prices by company with unlimited users. Annual Starter is $208 a month, Plus $325 and Pro $533; month to month, it’s $245, $382 and $627. There’s a demo but no trial mentioned.

It includes GPS tracking, a technician mobile app, service agreements, inventory, job costing, eSign, progress billing and an AI phone answering service. Once you’re past roughly 20 users, unlimited seats start to look cheap next to Housecall Pro’s $35 per head. See Service Fusion compared with Clevra.

7. RazorSync

RazorSync publishes clear tiers. On annual billing, Solo is $85 a month for up to 2 users, Team is $195 for up to 7 and Pro is $439 for up to 15 (monthly: $90, $225, $499). Enterprise is unlimited on request. The trial is 14 days.

You get iOS and Android apps, a customer portal, time cards and payroll, and an API. QuickBooks Desktop and Online sync starts on Team; route optimization and inventory are Pro only. See RazorSync next to Clevra.

Free Housecall Pro alternatives

A trial lets you poke around. A free plan lets you run real jobs for as long as you need. Housecall Pro has only the first.

Clevra’s Free plan is $0 for one user with no time limit. It includes clients, estimates, jobs, scheduling, invoices, the client portal and online card payments. Your estimates, invoices and portal show Clevra branding until you move to a paid plan. Checklists, text messaging and the AI Business Assistant start on Pro.

For trials: Kickserv gives 30 days, Jobber, Housecall Pro and RazorSync give 14, Workiz gives 7. Service Fusion offers a demo, and FieldPulse doesn’t state a trial.

Apps like Housecall Pro: checking the field side

Housecall Pro’s mobile apps set a high bar. Give any replacement to your lead tech for one full day and ask:

  1. Did they see the whole day, get directions and tap On My Way without calling in?
  2. Could they fill the form the client expects, including readings, photos and a signature?
  3. Did it hold up in a crawlspace or a mechanical room with no bars?
  4. Could they collect payment before leaving?

Clevra’s honest status: the Technician app is an iOS beta on TestFlight, not on the App Store, and there’s no Android version yet. It shows the tech’s day, visit details and directions, has Start, On My Way and Complete buttons, fills checklists (except photo and signature questions, which happen in the web app for now), runs a visit timer and timesheets that work offline, creates invoices and records cash, cheque, card or e-transfer payments by hand.

Need Android, Spanish or full offline mode today? Stay with Housecall Pro or look at Jobber and Kickserv.

How to pick an alternative to Housecall Pro

Work backward from what the client receives when you leave the site.

  • A signed report or certificate: sewer camera, leak detection, backflow, scanning, locating. Choose on form depth and PDF output first. Clevra is built for this.
  • You’re past 8 people and growing: compare total monthly cost at your real headcount. At 12 users, Housecall Pro MAX is $439, Service Fusion Starter is $208 and Clevra Business is $79, all on annual billing.
  • You need Android, Spanish or offline mode now: Housecall Pro or Jobber.
  • The phone is your main lead source: Workiz, FieldPulse and Housecall Pro all ship AI call answering. Clevra’s is in Early access.
  • You sell equipment with financing: stay with Housecall Pro.

Moving off Housecall Pro, step by step

  1. Export clients and properties. Get your customer list out as a spreadsheet, including service addresses.
  2. Import into Clevra. Upload a CSV or XLSX file of up to 5,000 rows. Clients can hold multiple properties, so a landlord with ten units stays one record.
  3. Load your services and rates. Camera inspection, annual backflow test, leak survey. Estimates and invoices pull from this list.
  4. Build one checklist per inspection type. Start with the three fields the client always asks for, then add.
  5. Set up money and books. Connect Stripe for card payments and QuickBooks Online on Pro. Our integrations page lists the options.
  6. Put the request form on your site. The website request form sends new work to one inbox.
  7. Overlap for two weeks. Finish open jobs in Housecall Pro, book new ones in Clevra, then cancel.

Housecall Pro alternatives FAQ

Is Housecall Pro worth it?

For home service businesses that sell to homeowners, often yes. It has strong iOS and Android apps, Spanish support, financing, online booking and CSR AI that books jobs. It’s harder to justify once you pass eight users at $35 each, or when your real product is an inspection report rather than a repair.

Does Housecall Pro have a free trial or a free version?

Housecall Pro offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. It doesn’t list a free plan, so after the trial you choose Basic, Essentials or MAX. On annual billing those start at $59, $149 and $299 a month, as listed on October 15, 2026.

Is there a free alternative to Housecall Pro?

Yes. Clevra has a Free plan at $0 for one user with no time limit. It covers clients, estimates, jobs, scheduling, invoices, the client portal and online card payments. Paid plans are flat per company: Pro is $39 a month billed yearly for up to 5 users.

The usual shortlist is Jobber, Workiz, Kickserv, FieldPulse, Service Fusion, RazorSync and ServiceTitan. People also search for house call pro alternatives, spelled with a space; it’s the same product. Clevra competes for small crews in inspection and reporting trades such as sewer camera work and backflow testing.

How much does Housecall Pro cost for 10 users?

On annual billing, MAX covers 8 users for $299 a month, and each extra user is $35 a month. Ten users comes to $369 a month. For comparison, Clevra Business covers up to 15 users for $79 a month billed yearly, as listed on October 15, 2026.

Does Clevra have an AI receptionist?

Clevra’s AI Receptionist is in Early access. It answers your business line, records who called and what they need, and places the request in your inbox for the office to book. Book a demo to join. The AI Business Assistant is live today on Pro and Business plans.

Can Clevra handle sewer camera and backflow reports?

Yes. On Pro and up you build checklists with number fields for readings, dropdowns for pass or fail, photo upload and signature fields. The crew fills them on site, Clevra makes a PDF, and the client sees it in the portal. Photo and signature questions are filled in the web app for now.
