What is sewer camera inspection software?
Sewer camera inspection software is the job-management tool a drain, plumbing or inspection company uses to run its camera work. It books sewer scopes and drain camera inspections, sends the tech to the right property, records what the camera found, produces the inspection report, and handles the repair quote, the invoice and the payment.
Clevra is sewer inspection software that covers the business side of it:
- Scheduling and dispatch: sewer scopes, drain camera inspections, jetting and emergency backups on one board
- Inspection reports: a checklist on the phone with photos, turned into a PDF sewer inspection report
- Repair quotes: spot repairs, lining and line replacements priced and signed online
- Invoices and payments: bill the scope, collect by card, or record a check on site
- Referral tracking: record which realtor or home inspector sent you each customer
Clevra is not camera software. Your camera system still records and stores the video. Clevra runs everything around it.
Sewer scope vs. sewer camera inspection: same job, different customers
A sewer scope and a sewer camera inspection are the same service: a waterproof camera goes into the sewer line, usually through a cleanout, and a technician watches the line from the house to the city main or septic tank. Home buyers and real estate agents tend to say "sewer scope." Homeowners with a slow drain say "sewer camera inspection" or "drain camera inspection." Cities and engineers say "CCTV pipe inspection" or "sewer lateral inspection."
What a camera inspection usually finds:
- Root intrusion at joints and cracks
- Offset or separated joints
- Bellies, low spots where water and waste sit
- Cracks, breaks and collapses
- Grease, scale and debris buildup
- Pipe material, such as clay, cast iron, Orangeburg or PVC, and where it changes
Whatever your customers call it, it's one job type in Clevra. Name your services the way your customers search for them on quotes and invoices.
Schedule sewer scopes and drain backups on one board
Camera work is a mix of booked inspections and backed-up drains that can't wait. You need both in one place.
On the desktop calendar you book jobs, assign techs and drag things around when an emergency jumps the queue. Your techs see their own day in their phone's browser, with each stop's address. You see every truck's day from yours.
When you book the job, Clevra sends the customer a confirmation, and the day before, a reminder. Both go by email, and by text on Pro and up for customers who opt in. Fewer locked gates and no-shows at the cleanout.
What Clevra isn't: a GPS truck tracker or an automatic route optimizer. You plan the day's order on the board, and your techs get turn-by-turn directions in their own maps app.
Sewer inspection reports, done before you leave the driveway
Clevra's work forms turn a sewer camera inspection into a PDF report before you leave the property. Your tech follows the same checklist on every scope, adds photos from the monitor, and the report emails to your customer that day, whether that's the homeowner, the buyer or the agent.
What a sewer inspection report usually covers:
- Property: address, access point (cleanout, roof vent, toilet pull) and where the cleanout is
- Line: pipe material, diameter, and the footage scoped
- Findings: roots, offsets, bellies, cracks, breaks, debris, each with the footage where it was seen
- Photos: stills of each finding from the camera monitor
- Video: a link to the full recording, wherever you store it
- Condition: good / fair / needs repair, and recommended next steps
- Sign-off: the technician's signature and the customer's
Need a separate report for real estate scopes, post-repair verification or a city lateral inspection? Build one form for each. Work forms come with Pro and Business.
About video: Clevra doesn't host long inspection videos or code defects to NASSCO PACP. Keep the footage in your camera's software or cloud storage and put the link in the report. You can attach the camera software's own report or short clips, up to 25 MB per file, to the job.
Sewer scope inspections for home buyers and realtors
Buyers increasingly get a sewer inspection before buying a house, especially for older homes with clay or cast iron lines and big trees in the yard. Real estate deals run on deadlines, so speed wins the agent's next referral.
- Book it fast: agents and buyers request a date through your online request form, and you drop it on the board.
- Report the same day: the work form becomes a PDF that emails to your customer, and you can download it to forward to everyone on the deal.
- Add-on for home inspectors: run your sewer scope bookings, reports and invoices in Clevra next to your home inspections.
Realtors and home inspectors are your best source of repeat scope work. Set the referring agent as each new customer's lead source, and the lead source report on Pro and up shows who sends you the most work.
Sewer line inspection and sewer lateral inspection for cities and property managers
Some cities require a sewer lateral inspection when a home is sold, remodelled or connected to a new main. Property managers and HOAs book camera inspections on their buildings every year. That's steady work if you can keep track of it.
Book the job against the property, attach the city's form or your CCTV report, and send the invoice to whoever pays: the owner, the manager or the contractor. For yearly maintenance contracts, book next year's inspection when you finish this one, and Clevra reminds the customer the day before.
Lateral inspection rules differ by city and county. Build your Clevra form to match the standard you inspect to.
Quote the repair while the camera's still in the line
The scope found a root-packed joint at 42 feet. Or the line has bellied under the driveway. The homeowner wants a price now.
Open the customer in Clevra, start a quote and add the line items: hydro jetting, root cutting, spot repair, pipe lining, excavation and replacement, a new cleanout. Send it for digital signature, and the customer signs online from their own phone.
Once they approve, the quote's line items carry over to the job, so nothing gets typed twice.
Invoice the scope. Get paid before you pull out.
Inspection done. Tap "Generate Invoice" on the job and its line items carry over. Add the extras, like pulling a toilet for access or a second line, then email it to the customer. On Pro and up, customers who opt in to texts also get a heads-up by SMS.
Customers pay by card from the link in the invoice. Paid by check on the spot? Your tech records it on the invoice. Turn on automatic overdue reminders on Pro and up, or send a reminder with one tap.
Crew time and records in the same app
Techs clock in and out from their phone, or you add time by hand. Approve timesheets, confirm the pay period and export it for payroll.
Keep each tech's licence and certification documents on their profile, so you're not digging through email when a city or a general contractor asks for proof.
Track every lead. Know your pipeline.
A camera inspection often turns into the biggest job of the month: a line replacement or a lining project. Those quotes need follow-up.
Clevra's CRM gives you a real sales pipeline. Every lead moves through stages, from new request to won or lost, and you can rename the stages to match how you sell. You see which repair quotes are still open and which ones need a call.
